Indonesian Librarians Association (IPI) together with the National Library held a web-based seminar entitled "Librarian : The Past, it, and what is to come”. This event was held in the occasion of the 47th IPI Anniversary and the Commemoration of Indonesian Librarian Day which falls on date 7 July. All levels of the IPI central management took part in the event which lasted for approximately three hours.
Several representatives from the IAIN Tulungagung Library too also had the opportunity to take part in the event. Activities that took place on the date 7 July 2020 from start at 09.00 S.d at 12.00 WIB is running smoothly even though it is still deep the atmosphere of the Covid-19 pandemic. This event was accessed via the Zoom video conferencing application and broadcast directly via YouTube due to the large number of participants reaching thousands of people. This event was held as well as material evaluation for IPI to further increase its role and capacity in bridging librarians throughout Indonesia.
The first speech was delivered by T.Syamsul Bahri, S.H., M.Si. as General Chair of the Indonesian Librarians Association. Next greeting delivered by the Head of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Drs. Muhammad Syarif Bando, MM is also the supervisor of the Indonesian Librarians Association. After that, continue with cutting the tumpeng by the Director of the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia as a commemoration of the anniversary as well thanks for holding the event.
The resource persons for this webinar consisted of three people, which first Prof. Dr. Sulistyo Basuki as PP-IPI supervisor. Second resource person is President of IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions) namely Christine Mackenzie. The final resource person is Dr. Ahmed Syawqie, S.IP as Chair of PD-IPI South Kalimantan.
Conclusion to the webinar that took place that is, it covers several important points, The first is that the library can't stand alone, That's why libraries must work together and work together to help each other which in Islam is the term friendship. The second point is that librarians act as transformers in this era new normal in providing services (library services) to anyone who needs information.
At the end of the event, there is a closing message conveyed by the IPI Central Management Supervisor so that librarians always progress even though in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic situation. Keep up the enthusiasm and keep working for a better Indonesia, now and in the future.
