Differences between Old Age Information and Today's Information

In modern life like today, Humans are inseparable from that called information. Information can be obtained through two sources, namely directly through communication with others, and indirectly through mass media intermediaries. Mass media is divided into two types, namely the media masses in the form of print media such as newspapers and magazines, and electronic media like television, radio or media cyber (internet).

At this time, The mass media has become a basic need for someone in getting information. However, Over time the mass media has experienced a shift in its function and role as a public communication media. If in ancient times the mass media was used by the people who were secondary to the king as the kings, sultan, and people who have a position to manage the government. The information is also limited only about the interests of government.

However, At this time the mass media has become a necessity for everyone ranging from people with low economy to middle to upper and above. The context of the context in the news is not monotonous about the government. Become more diverse ranging from information about sports, technology, political, up to the global issue. The mass media is now not only the government's fully, But most have been controlled by the private sector.

Therefore information now seems unstoppable. The number of news media that is there seems to be competing to get information as quickly as possible. The point is no longer on the accuracy of information but at the speed of information. No longer relying on the facts but rather the enthusiasm of the citizens. As if no longer care about the truth of information, As long as the information is widely accessed and enjoyed by many people it is considered normal.

See this reality, It is unfortunate because the essence of the information itself seems to have vanished only because of business goals alone. Even though the main nature of the mass media is to provide actual and factual information to the public. Both of these elements must exist. However, At present many mass media reported a news that is often not based on the facts. “Bad news is a good news“ (-unknown) That's the quote of the principle that is widely claimed by the mass media today. Because a bad news will be a very good news to be published to the wider community. People will be more interested in the news of birds that are sometimes unclear.

Therefore, We as consumers of the mass media must be smart In addressing information that is widely circulating at this time. Information is the same like a virus, If we have strong antibodies then the virus will difficult to enter our bodies. If we are smart in filtering information enter (information literacy), We will avoid the deception of media reporting mass that can harm the time, energy, and our minds.

If we as consumers are able to filter out information and use it appropriately, Certainly we will only consume information that is weighted and there will be no more losses admitted by unclear news.

Hopefully the explanation above can help us to be wiser in addressing an information we receive. Remember!! Millennial generation must be smart in literacy, Create and innovate. Greetings literacy j
