Get to know more about plagiarism (Part 2)

In the first part, we already know the meaning of plagiarism. Apart from that, we also know several acts of plagiarism which often occurs in the scope of higher education. Then in this second part We will learn to recognize the causes of plagiarism along with the sanctions. Read the full explanation below.

Cause of Action Plagiarism

Several things often cause the action to occur plagiarism ie:

a. Too easy to do

Currently, every scientific article can be easily downloaded via the internet network. That's why most students can do it it's easycopy-paste a piece of writing without paraphrase the quote.

b. Breakthrough mentality

Many people write instantly and reluctantly to try hard to write using the correct rules so that it does There are various ways, one of which is by plagiarizing various previous writings combined into one and produce a scientific work.

c. Inability to analyze information

Quoting an article requires analysis comprehensively regarding this information. Once we are able Analyzing it, then we can properly understand the meaning conveyed that. The inability to analyze this information is what causes many people get caught up in plagiarism.

d. Inability to select information

Inability to select information required is also one of the causes of plagiarism.

e. There are no explicit consequences

Even though there are sanctions that regulate act of plagiarism, However, due to weak supervision, there are still many This action occurs especially in the academic environment.

f. Ignorance of the boundaries of plagiarism

Often acts of plagiarism occur not because of element of intent, but due to lack of knowledge regarding matters that. That's why it is very important to always learn the techniques and procedures for writing good and correct scientific papers.

g. Not knowing collection techniques

Plagiarism Sanctions

According to Law No. 20 Year 2003 about National Education System art 25 verse 2 and article 70 regulates sanctions plagiarism, especially in the academic environment. Sanctions contained in the Law that is:

(Chapter 25) verse 2: Graduate universities whose scientific work is used to obtain a degree academic, profession, or if the vocation is proven to be plagiarized, the title will be revoked.

(Chapter 70): Graduate whose scientific work he used to obtain an academic degree, profession, or vocation as intended in Article 25 Verse (2) proven to be Plagiarism is punishable by a maximum imprisonment of two years and/or a fine maximum Rp 200.000.000,00 (two hundred million rupiah).

Minister of Education Regulation National No 17 Year 2010 about preventing and dealing with plagiarism in Higher Education in chapter VI article 12 verse 1 mention sanctions for students those who were proven to have committed plagiarism from the lightest to the highest the heaviest, that is :

1. Reprimand

2. Written warning

3. Delay in giving some student rights

4. Cancellation of value

5. Dismissal with respect for your status as a student

6. Dismissal is not with respect for your status as a student

7. Cancellation of the degree after graduating from the education process.
